Office of Institutional Security (SSI)

The mission of the Office of Institutional Security (SSI) is to promote and maintain the security of people, facilities, and equipment through the implementation of a set of measures and activities supported by prior planning and continuous monitoring, with the aim of providing UFSC with the level of security necessary for the development of its administrative, teaching, research, and outreach activities.

 The main responsibilities of the SSI are:

• establish guidelines for the planning and implementation of all specific security areas, including physical, strategic and special security;
• plan, coordinate, control and systematize procedures related to the security of the university community, authorities, visitors, and other persons on campus, as well as the protection of facilities, materials and equipment;
• schedule and request vehicles and security equipment necessary for the efficient and effective performance of its activities, including specialized equipment designed to address security threats;
• plan and develop the implementation of accident, panic, and fire prevention programs at UFSC;
• promote coordination among the various University units directly or indirectly involved in personal and property security;
• foster cooperation and integration with public or private institutions, national or international organizations, internal or external units, or other security agencies that work in conjunction with activities of interest to UFSC in the areas of personal and property security, within the framework of integrated public security management;
• carry out operational activities related to institutional security.
